City of Fort Worth - Water Department Engineer
Job Description:

The City of Fort Worth Water Department Customer Care Division, Development Services Section is seeking to fill a Professional Engineer position.  This position will assist developers’ with their water and sewer inquiries related to their proposed development.  This includes from the preliminary planning to the study phase through plan reviews. Coordination with the outside development community as well and internal City departments is a key component to the success of this position.  We are seeking an individual who understands not only the technical side of the plan review, but also has the ability to apply these concepts to proposed projects to ensure that new development will install adequate infrastructure. Some of the associated tasks with this position are: addressing plat and construction plan review issues, communicate Water Departments design and guidelines to developers and consultants, formulate City participates via Formal Community Facilities Agreements (CFA), understand water and wastewater hydraulic models, and act as a project manager on development projects that have City facility design and be responsible for other assigned tasks. This position will also assist in review of Board of Adjustment cases, site plans, building permits, grading permits, and encroachments. 

The selected candidate shall possess problem solving, project management, strong interpersonal, and leadership skills with the ability to work independently under the direction of an Engineering Manager. Good communication and writing skills with high level of multi-tasking ability are essential to address high volume of telephone, email, and walk-in public inquiries.  GIS view skills, electronic plan review skills, thorough understanding of local government engineering and Fort Worth development process are a must. Coordination with the outside development community as well as internal City departments is a key component to the success of this position.  We are seeking an individual who understands not only the technical side of the plan review, but also has the ability to apply these concepts to proposed projects to ensure that new development will install adequate infrastructure. 

Required Qualifications:

  • BS in Civil Engineering required
  • Professional Engineering license plus four (2) years in design and contract administration of infrastructure improvements. 
  • Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.

Salary:
$59,443 to $86,193

HDR - Rail Designer/Engineer
Job Description:

HDR is currently seeking a Rail Designer/Engineer to join our Fort Worth, TX office. The primary duties of the Rail Designer/Engineer are to assist in and potentially lead the development of track and civil design plans, specifications, and cost estimates for a variety of mainline, industrial, yard and terminal projects with Class I railroads, shortlines, industrial and transit clients. Civil and track engineering assignments may include geometrics, drainage and utilities tasks and coordination with other disciplines. Potential lead designer responsibilities may include managing project scope, budget and schedule as well as development of design criteria, project guides, project meeting notes, and project controls. Position may require periodic client visits, site visits, field assessments, and construction inspection, as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • BS in Civil Engineering required
  • 2+ years of experience
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience using MicroStation required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PE preferred
  • Experience in railroad design preferred
  • Experience using AutoCAD preferred
  • Experience using InRoads, InRail, and/or Geopak preferred

Qualified candidates must have experience with hydrology and hydraulic analysis and design software as follows:

Civil 3D or MicroStation, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, HEC-GeoHMS, HEC-GeoRAS, HEC-RAS 2D, XP-SWMM, ArcGIS, and Microsoft Office Suite
