Topic: When Your Site Doesn’t Obey the Rules: Geotechnical Problems in Karst
“Karst terrain presents unique challenges for geotechnical engineers. Most textbook discussions of karst are based on idealized situations
and classic locations, which often do not resemble the site you are working on in the slightest way. This presentation will give a brief
introduction to karst geology and hydrology and address three commonly encountered problems:
(1) Where's the Top of Rock?
(2) Where'd the Ground Go?
(3) That Contamination Can't Be Ours-The Monitoring Wells Are All Clean.”
Please RSVP to Gary Gleason by noon on Friday, July 3rd via email at
gary.gleason@hsvcity.com, or by phone at (256) 427-5300, if you plan to attend.
