Nominations Requested
for Outstanding Civil Engineers and Engineering Projects
The Alabama Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) is seeking nominations for Alabama's all-time outstanding civil engineers and civil engineering projects as part of the 150th anniversary celebration of the national ASCE organization.
Selection of honorees will be based on the degree and magnitude of the contributions and/or achievements made toward enhancing the quality of life and affecting the civil engineering profession. A statewide committee will judge the nominations, which are due by June 1, 2002. Multiple nominations may be submitted in each category.
An individual nominee(s) must be a civil engineer and have been
associated with the state of Alabama in one or more of the
following ways:
* as a native son or daughter
* as a resident of the Alabama at some point during the individual's active career
* as an employee of a company or agency with operations located within Alabama
* as an individual who, by action or deed, has contributed to the
advancement of civil engineering and/or technology with direct impact
on the Alabama or its citizens
Nominated projects, concept, idea, innovation, or design must have had a direct and measurable civil engineering and/or technological impact on Alabama or its citizens.
