WELCOME!!! Welcome to the homepage of the Montgomery Branch of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). ASCE is the nation's oldest national engineering society, representing civil engineers and civil engineering. Our members are employed by private practice firms, by education institutions, and by local, state, and federal government agencies. The practice of civil engineering covers a wide variety of fields, most of which pertain to the infrastructure on which our modern society is built. Civil engineers design roads, bridges, buildings, water and waste water treatment systems, and solid waste disposal facilities. Civil engineers are the lead of or a significant member of the design team for the design of most construction projects. The members of ASCE ensure safer buildings, water systems, and other civil engineering works through the ASCE-developed technical codes and standards often adopted by federal, state and local governments. |

The Montgomery Branch is part of the Alabama Section of ASCE. Our members predominately live in Autauga, Elmore, Lowndes, and Montgomery Counties; though we are open to any civil engineer that wishes to join. Other Branches in Alabama are located in Birmingham, Huntsville, Mobile, and Tuscaloosa. We generally meet on the second Tuesday of each month from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) central office complex in Montgomery. We do not meet the months of the Alabama Section Winter or Summer meetings (typically March and July or August). Our meetings consist of lunch, a business meeting, and a speaker. Lunch is sometimes provided by the speaker, or we cater in lunch on a pay-as-you-go basis from one of several area restaurants. Click on the Meeting Schedule link on the left side of this page to see our current schedule. In addition to our regular meetings, the Branch
has an annual golf tournament to raise funds for our scholarship program.
We are also involved with various community activities and activities
with other engineering societies. Our members visit local schools
throughout the year, giving talks and demonstrations on civil engineering.
We are also in the process of working on a Younger Member Group within
the Branch to encourage young civil engineers to make the transition
from student member to full membership. For more information about our Branch, go the Branch Officers page and contact any one of our officers. You can also mail us at the address below. |
