Soil Mixing, also known as the Deep Mixing Method, involves the mechanical blending of in situ soil with cementitious materials using a hollow stem auger and paddles. Soil mixing has recently become a more popular ground improvement technique on civil engineering projects involving foundations, excavations, tunneling, and liquefaction concerns. The presentation will focus on soil mixing techniques (both wet and dry methods), the design methodology, construction and QA/QC. In addition, there will be a discussion on some of Hayward Baker's current projects including: the Brunswick Nuclear Power Plant in Southport, North Carolina and the Herbert Hoover Dike in Lake Okeechobee, Florida.
Please make your reservations by 12:00 PM, Tuesday July 15th by emailing: Natasha Rodevick
Please note that if you make a reservation and cannot attend, you must cancel before the lunch meeting or send a replacement to avoid being charged. We will be sending out invoices after the meeting for anyone who does not attend.
