ü      90th birthday gala for Dr. Maury Albertson!  Dr. Albertson has had a great impact in civil engineering specifically with CSU and ASCE.  He is truly a great man with an incredible history.  Maury Albertson is co-founder of Village Earth and the International Institute for Sustainable Development. He was also a professor at Colorado State University for over 50 years serving as Director of the Research Foundation, Director of International Programs and Professor of Civil Engineering.  He made a lasting contribution to the establishment of the U.S. Peace Corps when he led the team that wrote the first report on how an international youth corps should be organized. In addition, he has served as a consultant to the World Bank, the UNDP, AID, UNESCO, the Peace Corps and other agencies on projects and programs dealing with the environment, engineering, water resources and village development. ü       ASCE Liquid Assets a PBS Special on Water and Wastewater Infrastructure to air this Fall.  Liquid Assets is a public media and outreach initiative that seeks to inform the nation about the critical role that our water/wastewater infrastructure plays in protecting public health and promoting economic prosperity.  ASCE is a primary outreach partner for the initiative and the Colorado Section has decided to create a grass roots effort to generate public awareness about the crumbling infrastructure and shortage of water supplies.  The Northern Colorado Branch will be hosting a booth at the New West Fest in Old Town Fort Collins on August 16th and 17th.  Volunteers are needed to host the booth.  Please contact Amber Kauffman at takauff2002@msn.com if you are interested. Sponsorships are also available but must be confirmed by July 25th for inclusion on merchandise/displays.
