to the ASCE North Jersey Branch website. Here you will find updated information on technical programs and networking events organized by the branch, contact information for the officers and chairpersons, our monthly newsletters, and much more.
The North Jersey Branch has been very successful the past few years, with well-attended dinner programs, daytime seminars, field trips and other networking events. Technical programs are developed around topical issues and active projects in the North Jersey area.
Additionally, we have ongoing outreach programs that target elementary school, high school and university level students that:
- Provide visiting lecturers to programs run specifically for high school students with proficiency in math and sciences.
- Set up programs to educate university level students on the choices within Civil Engineering
- Award Scholarships for both high school seniors and college students.
- Annually host interactive activities at Liberty Science Center during Engineers Week (E-week).
For the college graduate we have several after work meetings and activities that’s sure to interest you, here’s a few to whet your appetite:
- Our Younger Member Group, for Engineers 35 years old and younger, actively plans and participates in fun activities like canoeing, paintball, and an annual hike. The YMG is a great way to get active in your professional community and grow your career.
- We’ve formed K-12 committee whose mission it is to introduce children to engineering. Read here if you're interested in joining!
- For those politically inclined, we’re now forming a Government Relations committee. Email our Vice President, Stephan Butler (link to his info) for more information.
I urge you to get the most out of your membership in ASCE, by networking and becoming actively involved in our Branch. Our Technical Groups welcome new members and fresh ideas. Browse through this website to find the activities that interest you, and reach out to the many contacts listed throughout this site. One of the benefits of getting involved is that you’ll get to work with some of the present and future leaders in our profession!
In closing, I invite you to bookmark this page and to log on often to our new website! We are adding more content over the next few months, especially photographs from recent events. I’ll see you at the next meeting!
