Santa Rosa Water – Post Fire Challenges and Restoring Water Quality

In October 2017 the Tubbs fire melted plastic pipes and other appurtenances, contaminating a portion of the City of Santa Rosa’s water system.  This presentation will provide an overview of the fire emergency and water contamination issue, including information on the investigation, the resolution, challenges in communicating a water quality issue, and lessons learned along the way.

Jennifer Burke

Jennifer Burke is the Deputy Director of Water Resources with the City of Santa Rosa. During the October 2017 Wildfires Jennifer served in the Operations Section of the Emergency Operations Center. Since the wildfires, Jennifer has lead the effort to resolve the post-fire water quality issue for the Water Department.  She graduated from San Jose State University with an MBA in Business and earned her Bachelor’s in Environmental Studies from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
