BRANCH HISTORY WEBPAGE
Brief History
Founded in 1852, the
American Society of Civil Engineers
represents more than 130,000 civil engineers worldwide, and is the
world's largest and America's oldest national engineering society. The
SunCoast Branch includes more than 300 ASCE members, and has been
present in central west coast of Florida since 1984 serving the Counties
of Sarasota, Manatee, Hardee and Desoto in the State of Florida. Year
2009 marks the 25th Anniversary of SunCoast Branch. Branches
of West Coast and Southwest are the two neighboring regional branches
serving the Tampa Bay and Fort Myers areas respectively. Presently, we
have the Florida Section and twelve branches throughout
Florida. Geographically SunCoast Branch falls within Region 5 consisting
of Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, Louisiana, and Florida. The SunCoast
Branch of ASCE is a non-profit organization.
