EWRI Luncheon
Topic: Hydrologic Issues in South Florida
Abstract: This seminar discusses three common practices in engineering hydrology that have traditionally been used in south Florida, but could be updated to reflect the state-of-the-art. The hydrologic practices to be covered include specification of design rainfall distribution(s), calculation of runoff from rainfall, and design of exfiltration trenches. Limitations of existing methods in these areas will be reviewed, and corresponding state-of-the art methods will be presented.
Presenter: David A. Chin is a Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Miami. He is a registered professional engineer in Florida, with graduate degrees in civil engineering from Georgia Tech (PhD) and Caltech (MS).
