Program: The Danish Water Technology Alliance
The presentation will describe the Danish transition from a country solely dependent on imported energy to a country that will be self-sufficient on energy. As pumping water has a large proportion of energy usage, this presentation will focus on how Denmark has reduced water consumption, managed pressure and developed sustainable solutions to manage our water resources. It will also focus on The Danish Water Technology Alliance (WTA) as an outreach based on a Memorandum of Understanding between the State of California and the Danish Ministry of Environment to strengthen collaboration on water issues. It is WTA’s job to share Danish knowledge and to bring US solutions back to Denmark. It is not “one size fits all” but inspiration can help move utilities faster in the right direction. To support the outreach some of the water professionals has been loaned out by the tree biggest Danish utilities to share knowledge, and ideas on everything from daily operation to organizational structures and strategic approaches to water and wastewater management.
