The Student Scholarship Essay Competition is an annual event held in the spring and hosted in turns by San Jose State University, Santa Clara University, and Stanford University. Students from all three schools participate each year and contest winners receive scholarship money generously provided by a variety of local companies and ASCE members.
This year the awards banquet was hosted by Santa Clara University on April 23, 2019. The 2019 essay prompt included two possible topics: Discuss innovations in civil engineering or answer how civil engineers can best help society utilize dwindling natural resources.
Congratulations to the 2019 First Place Winner, Monique Hansen from Santa Clara University!
