Action Arts and Science Program (AASP) at the Washington Pavilion.  The Eastern Branch is looking for volunteers for October 27th from 4:30 to 8 to help with an outreach event focused around natural science and engineering.  Approximately 150 attendees are expected.  Volunteers are welcomed by Pavilion staff to join in the free pizza dinner that is being provided.

The Washington Pavilion Action Arts and Science Program (AASP) began in 1999 with a mission to bring high-quality art and science experiences to children with limited access to extracurricular activities. Today, we engage and inspire more than 500 students at over 20 locations per week.

AASP partner sites for 2017-18 include: Sioux Falls School District Kids Inc. (8 elementary schools), YMCA After School Program (at 3 middle schools), Juvenile Detention Center, Volunteers of America-Dakotas (Bowden Youth Center and Heisler Chemical Dependency Unit for Youth), Multi-Cultural Center (Natives Count, Froggy Reads and Self-Defense/Judo Programs), Kids Stop Program, Kidz Count Program, Youth Enrichment Services (Eastside and 14th Street locations) and Boys & Girls Club (Sneve Ave. location).

AASP is a recipient of the prestigious National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Award. The award is given by the President's Committee on the Arts and the Humanities and its partner agencies, the National Endowment for the Arts, the National Endowment for the Humanities and the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
