Please join us for a very important night as we recognize our student awardees and the work they are doing.

We will also have a presentation on Geotechnical Engineering Failures - Lessons Learned by James Niehoff with GEI Consultants.

This presentation presents a number of case histories of engineering failures associated with geotechnical designs including: excessive settlements of fills, excessive settlements of shallow foundations, excessive settlement of deep foundations, excavation collapse, retaining wall collapse, and sinkhole collapse. For each case history, a list of reasons for the failures are presented along with lessons which may be learned to avoid future failures.
