Presenter’s Bio:  

The presentation will be given by Jose Guardiario, MSc, P.G., P.E.

Jose is a Principal Engineer with the South Florida Water  Management District Engineering and Construction Bureau.  He has 37 years of experience in geological, geotechnical and construction engineering work, 11 years of which was in an open pit and underground porphyry copper mines and exploration in the Philippines, 12 years  in construction engineering and inspection and 14 years in various geological and geotechnical investigation and engineering design in South Florida.

 

Presentation Summary:  

The presentation will be about the impact of seepage on the stability of dams and levees associated with the SFWMD Ten Mile Creek Water Preserve Area.  The presentation will cover the major geotechnical parameters to be considered when designing levees and dam embankments for above ground water storage areas/reservoirs, to ensure long term stability of levees and dam embankments.  Attached is a copy of the presentation that Jose will give at our lunch meeting; however, the cover slide will be updated for our specific meeting.
