Harold R. Peyton Award for Cold Regions Engineering
Dr. Douglas J. Goering, Ph.D., P.E., M.ASCE from the Fairbanks Branch of the Alaska Section has been selected by the Technical Council on Cold Regions Engineering to receive the 2017 Harold R. Peyton Award for Cold Regions Engineering for his contribution to cold regions engineering through research, teaching and academic leadership in the fields of mechanical engineering, arctic engineering, roadway embankment design, permafrost heat transfer, extreme environmental automotive research, and service to the profession.
2017 Regional ASCE Steel Bridge Competition
The UAF Steel Bridge Team returned from the 2017 Regional ASCE Steel Bridge Competition in Boise, Idaho. The Team placed 1st overall in the competition and in addition placed 1st in structural efficiency and lightness. The team is currently preparing for the 2017 National ASCE Steel Bridge Competition in Oregon on May 26th – 27th.
