Coastal Branch Meeting
“The Sand for Carolina Beach Nourishment: What Happens When It’s Dredged?” An inside look at the beach nourishment process, including where nourishment sand comes from, how it is dredged, transported, and ultimately placed along the shoreline.
An optional tour of the State of the art Coastal Engineering Facility will follow the presentation.
In addition, we will be introducing our ASCE/UNCW Student Ambassadors for this year!
One Professional Development Hour (PDH) will be provided.
Dr. Gregory L. Williams, PE, UNCW Coastal Engineering Professor
Dr. Williams is a coastal engineering professional and educator with experience in coastal processes, dredging, and beach nourishment. His presentation will provide an engaging look at the practical engineering behind one of the most important coastal protection strategies used along North Carolina's beaches.
